in the generous life

I hang with a bunch of gals each Thursday and they are really sharp (keep me on my toes). You might not think this is a generous wife tip, but really it is. Hanging out with other gals and encouraging each other is a good way to build your marriage. We share, we pray, we read and talk about scripture (today was really tough because we got to talking about pride and how we need to be willing to serve), etc. I’ll tell you, after a meeting like that I am a way better wife. You might want to look around for a group of gals to hang with. If there’s nothing in your area, then start something in your home. Invite a few friends over for coffee and share your heart, offer to pray for folks, or study a book together.

Two are better than one … If one falls down, his friend can help him up … Ecclesiastes 4:9a,10a  NIV

The hardest part about groups like that is how easy it can become a husband-bashing session. You become who you hang around with so it’s good to be very, very careful and stay on guard against Sappers.
Good post though.

This is a very generous tip. And true there are times as wives we feel the need to vent, BUT that is the time to encourage and pray and support the wives who may be going through a difficult time.

Thank you, Sweetmomma3 for your caveat. I have been getting together for talk and prayer with 2 other girlfriends for years, once a month. They are close friends and we have been through a lot together. Both of them have rocky marriages (not what they expected or wanted) and it makes me so much more appreciative of my husband.
