Sticky Note Stuff

January 19, 2010

in the generous life

I was wandering around a store today (waiting on my husband and son) and ran across a little book called Stuck on Suess. It was really very cute. It was a sticky note pad with little encouraging sayings by Dr. Suess. There were a number of similar books and pads, but this one stood out to me because I like quotes (and Dr. Seuss, I’ve never really quite grown up).

The idea was to leave a sticky note message for someone as a little encouragement. Not a bad idea.

Today is your day!  Your mountain is waiting, So … get on your way!  Dr. Suess

I had an idea for the leaving special things on your husband’s pillow that I thought would be cool, I started looking in the Thrift store for cute little things. You can often find new or near new little presents that would fit your husband perfectly and it’s not like you have to drive him nuts by spending lots of money or something. :-D Just recently I found a hardback in the Thrift store for a dollar that my husband would love and left it on his pillow. Just an idea!:)

i have done something similar to this in the past. i took a pad of sticky notes and went through and wrote something encouraging about my husband on them. for example, since it was his birthday i used some of them to create a happy birthday banner, on one i wrote about him being a great dad, a godly husband on another, and then i also wrote things that i saw in his life that i was thnkful for. after writing on them all (some repeats) i went to his office when no one was around and stuck them in obvious and not so obvious places. then i went to his car and did the same. then i did the same with his computer and bag. then in areas of our bedroom/bathroom i knew he would find them. then i put a few on and in his clothing for him to find. and lastly, i stuck some randomly throughout the pages of his bible and devotional. HE LOVED IT! and it was encouraging to me to get random phone calls of appreciation and love. plus people visiting his office would comment on the ones they could see.

and it has been at least 3 years that i did this and he just found one the other day in his Bible (maybe found it again) but it brought a smile to his face and caused him to call me randomly!
