Find Me

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

Play an old-fashioned game of hide and seek with a new twist.  Nonchalantly walk up to your husband and hand him your undies.  Let him know that you want to play hide and seek.  Tell him to cover his eyes and count to 25 slowly (on his honor) and then tuck yourself into a really good hiding place (scout out your house earlier in the day for a good spot).  Have a delightful time of lovemaking when he finds you.

Rethink

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Last night's tip was about an organizational gift for your husband.  I am always thinking about ways to organize time and stuff.  It's a part of my design and comes easily to me.  I realize that is not the same for everyone, but I also realize that, for a lot of folks, they are talking themselves into poor organizational habits because of beliefs and attitudes ("I'm just not organized.  Dishes really do multiply in my sink overnight.  etc.").

I subscribe to a number of blogs.  I find The Clutter Diet Blog encouraging and helpful.  Here's a post about attitudes from this blog that really got my attention and I'd like to carry the concepts shared over into being a generous wife.

If you think that you "just don't have what it takes" or that you "can't ever learn or do enough to be a 'good' wife" then you are defeated before you start.  Time to rethink.  What does being a "good" or "generous" wife look like?  It will look a little different from woman to woman because God created us differently and we are married to different men (some more so than others, speaking as a wife married to a really eccentric man).  ;)   Don't ask for perfection of yourself, but prayerfully consider who you are and what your husband needs and desires from you.  Learn and practice changes a small step at a time, ask for help, perhaps buddy up with other women for encouragement.  Don't let wrong thinking keep you from learning and growing in your marriage relationship.

A Bit of Order

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Find or make a gift that will help your husband organize an area or make a place for an item that he loses easily.  For example, buy dividers for his drawers or buy a stick-on holder for his glasses (for a reading or desk area).  Look at "his" areas of the house and try to come up with an organizer that will help in those areas where he struggles with order.

Break The Code

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Write out the letters A-Z on a piece of paper and then assign each letter a number, symbol or different letter.  Use this "secret code" to write your husband a sexy note.  Hand him the mysteriously coded note (with a mysterious smile, of course) and give him a clue as to where the decoding sheet can be found (brief case, under his pillow, to be delivered in the mail the next day, etc.).

(hint: my code is just to use the next letter of the alphabet ~ B becomes C, e becomes f, etc.  To break the code, just move each letter back one.)

Missed You Soooo Much!

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

My husband's home!  :)   I sure missed him.  He got a super welcome from me and our son.  We hugged the stuffing out of him at the airport and stopped for a meal on the way home (swapping stories about our time apart).  There's no way he didn't know that he was loved and wanted.

How do you greet your husband after a separation (anything from just the afternoon to several days away)?  What does it say about how you feel about him?  What would you like for him to know?  How could you show that?

Mmm, Mmm, Good

Monday, October 26th, 2009

I finally have my stove in place (instead of the one that ignored the temperature dial).  I baked some bread.  Ohmygosh, it was so good.  What is it about home baked goods that feels so good?

Why not bake up a little something for your husband?  Bread is good, but so are his favorite cookies or a chocolate cake.  (Short on time or energy?  There are ready to bake breads and dessert in the freezer section.)

Baby Steps

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

Something I wrote yesterday got me to thinking and I realized that I just needed to share a word of encouragement.

Baby steps are a good thing.  We don't have to know everything and be able to do everything perfectly.  We just need to keep loving the Lord, learning His ways and continue to walk, even when we're just making baby steps with the occasional falling down on our bums.  It's OK to be human, to fail, to learn, to grow, to succeed, to fail again ... it is a learning process, a journey.

Celebrate the successes and give yourself a bit of grace when you land on your bum.  Pick yourself off, dust off a bit and get moving again.  Be patient with yourself, keep learning, and, as much as possible, enjoy the journey that is your life.

Creativity

Saturday, October 24th, 2009

I'd like to talk about sexual creativity.  A simple thought ... being creative doesn't mean that you have to pull your ideas from porn sources or that all things creative have their source in porn.  I know most of you know that, but it's a common idea that gets bounced around and I thought I'd just bounce it right out the door.  ;)   God is a creative God and we are made in His image.  We are creative too!  We can come up with creative ideas ourselves or learn from sources that are godly and reasonably discreet.

Let's talk a bit about what can be varied during sex.

* what you wear - this would include clothes, make up, jewelry, accessories, etc.  Have you even considered making love wearing a unique necklace or wearing an article of clothing that your husband particularly likes?
* think ambiance - lighting, music, nice odors (candles, perfume), etc. can add a thoughtful and creative touch.
* what you do - foreplay and any sexual act can be varied by what you do, how you do it and how much you do it.  Take more time to kiss or kiss your husband all over.  How do you touch your husband?  How about touching him in a different place or in a different way?  See all parts of his body as something to pleasure.
* where you get intimate - any place where there is privacy and a reasonable amount of comfort.  A living room chair?  A comfy mat on the the family room floor? Don't overlook moments of private time for a little foreplay.  When you're cleaning out the attic, grab your husband and give him an absolutely breath taking kiss.  Then let him know there will be more of that at bedtime (or whenever, what the heck, you needed a break from the work anyhow).
* when you get intimate - Sex at bedtime is nice, but so is sex in the morning, just before or after work, at lunchtime, etc.  Don't be afraid to change up your plans and make love in the afternoon.

By taking just one of these elements and doing something a little different, you are being creative and it will add a bit of interest to your intimate life.  Imagine your husband's surprise and pleasure when you join him in the shower for a bit of soapy foreplay or perhaps you could take a few moments in a back room for a quickie before leaving for the evening.

I encourage y'all to sit down with a pen and paper and write down a few ideas that are within your comfort zone (maybe even stretch yourself a bit) and then plan to try them out this next week.  We can be creative lovers if we will make the effort and risk a bit.  Even a small change is a good thing and a step in the right direction, a point of learning and growing.

Another word for creativity is courage. George Prince
