Read a Book, Share a Thought

in the generous life

Take 5-15 minutes a night to read to each other and then discuss what you’ve read.  If you are having a hard time figuring out how to discuss spiritual issues, then reading and discussing a book is a good way to start.  You could even take turns choosing what to read.  (Be sure to not use your choice to nag or blame.  Pick something uplifting, encouraging or personally challenging.)

Books can be dangerous.  The best ones should be labeled “This could change your life.”  Helen Exley

A good one to start with is The Shack. We’re currently doing that in our small group at church. Very thought provocking.

I enjoyed The Shack as well. I think it’s a great idea to change it up a bit. Do a bit of fiction, then a study book, a book about a personal interest, etc.
