Making History

in the generous life

Research your family trees together.  If that’s not desirable or possible, do a little work starting with just your two lives (for future posterity).  Write out dates and interesting things that have happened in your lives.  Document your own little bit of history making.

Every family tree produces some nuts. ;-)   Author Unknown

We recently attended a marriage seminar where they had us do the same thing. But, the purpose wasn’t to “trace history” necessarily. We also wrote on the tree the values and interests, size of cities, occupations and more of our parents and grandparents.

It was to help us visualize where some of our own beliefs and convictions and views of the world come from. It was very insightful and quite helpful.

Another couple at the seminar talked about how doing this exercise helped them to see why their parents divorced. And, helped them to see things they need to address early on.
